Traditional land-use plans often divide sites into rigid plots, consuming large amounts of land and reducing natural, non-built space. Yet when people, nature, and the ground coexist comfortably, the environment becomes truly livable. High-density mixed-use development greatly improves efficiency with clear zoning and orderly organization but it also eliminates possibilities, lifting people off the ground and separating them from the sky. In a new model, the site remains high-density and efficient, with strong local integration and high programmatic mix; however, the boundaries between functions become blurred, creating greater freedom and potential. People return to the ground to enjoy sunlight and open sky. With the metro integrated into the site, previously undervalued underground space becomes a foundational service layer and mobility network for the public realm above.
